Boston Getaway
"I am so sorry," my best friend said the moment we walked into our safe hotel room. "It's ok," was my response as I didn't think it was that bad. My friend and I tried to get a quick away from our daily lives of helping humanity, most are those who experience enough "situated crises" that affect either their physical health or mental health. Our hotel was located in the South side of Boston. Although it was located across a hospital, please note - if you want quietness, do not book a hotel next/near the emergency room - the group of bystanders that seemed to be high strung reminded us of our jobs. The biggest advantage was that it was an easy bus ride to the bus station and because of its location along Massachusetts Ave. it was one bus ride to Harvard.
Boston, for the many parts, is a "college city" with Tufts, Boston University, MIT, Harvard, Northeastern and Berkeley School of Music located near each other. We have not eaten lunch and by the time we found our restaurant of choice 6 hours later, we were "hangry" and mentally drained. We had an reasonably priced dinner FOR THREE (there is only two of us) at Dumpling Place, a popular spot among the students located in Bayback. At every table, I found the popular steamed dumplings placed in bamboo cases and bubble tea, as well as sizzling dishes in clay dishes. Walking around the area of Avenue of Music, we stumbled upon Church of Christian Scientist building, another building of Northeastern University, and of course, the Boston Pops.
My friend introduced me to a new found Irish friend whom she went to school with in Ireland. We bonded so well over lunch at Russell House Tavern, a trendy brunch spot, talking about the interesting things we have accomplished to memories of Irish adventures.

Day 2: Spent the day at Harvard campus. The bus breezed through MIT, which for some reason, the area seemed deserted (maybe studying for finals). But when we got to our final destination, we were met with a plethora of runners - Yulefest marathon around Harvard-Cambridge area.

We spent the entire day touring Harvard campus. Taking photos of the famous John Harvard statue. One of his foot is gold colored. To the tourists, touching it brings luck. The locals us advised not to touch it because of hazing activities. I think it was uric acid that caused the color differentiation, don't you think? From the library to an enormous assembly hall, I couldn't help feel the regard and prestige of the intellect, but also having been in that position, the pressure to perform and meet expectations.
Our final tour landed us at the Harvard Museum of Natural History. It was like the smaller version of the American Museum of Natural History without the crowds.
