Gaelic Tapas Adventure
For a retirement luncheon, I tried Spanish tapas and trendy Galician dishes called Tomiño, located in Soho/Little Italy. Our lunch menu:
- Costillas de Cordero: lamb on chestnut puree with au jus - the lamb was not too chewy and not too soft.
- Sardines: I passed but it looked good.
- Tortilla de "Betanzos": a town famous for its runny egg with potatoes - one can get the egg runny (the traditional kind), which has a little more sauce and soft. A well-cooked version is more drier and more potato. This is a popular dish to be ordered in the restaurant.
- Butternut salad: endive, firmer butternut walnut, goat cheese in balsamic vinaigrette - the ingredients puts a balance between the strong taste of the goat cheese and sweetness.
- Parrillada de Setas: wild mushroom, grapes sauce, goat cheese in honey sauce - nothing to say but pretty good.
- Octopus - grilled with a little more spice.
- Firey chorizo - slightly spicey Spanish sausages, served in an open flame. It was an ok dish where tiny chorizos were served in smaller skewers.
