Ole Mojave!
For a friend's b-day dinner, I and my clan landed in Astoria's Mojave Restaurant - off of Ditmars Blvd. train stop. The decor is quite - well, homey! The cream colored walls, dim lighting, and a fireplace burning and adorned with holiday ornaments make this restaurant warm and family friendly. The only draw back is that it can get loud, or maybe that's my party of 16 friends + the background music.
For starters, we had plates of blue chips with 2 sauces - 1 green & 1 orange with a sweet taste. ok. not bad. To play safe, I ordered Grilled Salmon with Pineapple salsa over plantains. When it came, initially I thought it would not be filling, but it sure did. Salmon was grilled to perfection and the pineapple salsa gave it a little kick! I do have to warn you, prices range from $16-22 - not for the budget conscious. But it's my friend's b-day and it's thanksgiving, so it's good enough for a celebration.
