Room Service
It is a rainy day. My team members and I seemed reluctant to go back outside and walk a couple of blocks to a mall to grab food. So we ordered room service and this is how my call went:
restaurant: hello
me: hi yes, I would like to order. We are in room... by the way, can we get separate receipts?
restaurant: yes ma'am. What would you like to order?
me: garlic rice, chicken curry with rice, and chicken with mushroom rice. how is the chicken with mushroom prepared?
restaurant: hold on...
I hear in the background, "lady want separate receipts..." a guy comes on
restaurant: hi ma'am, what do you want to do with the receipts?
me: I want separate receipts because different people are paying for the orders.
restaurant: ok, ma'am. What would you like to order?
I had to repeat it again and then I asked, out of habit, what is the total cost (bad mistake). the guy puts me on hold...
me: after a couple of minutes - hello? Hello? I wanted to take back what I said and just wanted to know when we will expect the food. Call should've been finished. But NO! I hear in the background they were taking other orders, and giving customers their bill. I hung up and called again. The restaurant picks up right away. I tell them my room number & gave the excuse that we got cut off. They said we're preparing your bill... another hold...
me: hello? he...llo?
After a few minutes, they got back to me. I asked how the chicken with mushroom was prepared (another bad request).
restaurant: hold on, let me ask.... another hold for a few minutes
Me: (I'm rolling my eyes at this point).
Restaurant: it's steamed with sauce on the rice. Ma'am, because this is room service, we are charging extra 15% on the bill.
me: ok, let me ask my friend.
I quickly shouted; friend said yes (15 sec. interaction). When I got back on the phone, the guy put me hold again... Helllo!!!!!
me (finally): ok, how long it will take? (a question I wanted to ask 15 minutes ago).
restaurant: (now female) because the chicken with mushroom is steam, it will take 13 minutes.
me: ok, that's fine. Please bring up to the room.
When I ordered food from Chinese take-outs, it usually takes a good 5 minutes. This took forever.
P.S.my chicken with mushroom was bad. Trying to finish it this second.
