More than Maple Syrup

Canada is known for maple - maple syrup, maple candy, maple cookies, etc. or how about Canadian bacon. But there are other foods that are distinctly from Canada and worth a try. Here are my taste testings:

1. Poutine
These are crispy fries with cheese curds, poured with rich gravy. Some have toppings of bacon, pulled pork or smoked meat. When trying this dish, it is not the time to think healthy.

2. Montreal-style smoked meat
It is beef brisket salted and cured with a range of spices before being smoked. A prelude to hypertension? Maybe or maybe not.

I was at Dunn's Restaurant in Downtown Montreal - a local favorite and packed on Friday and Saturday nights. The restaurant has a pub, diner and smokehouse décor. I tried their smoked meat in roll with a regular poutine as a side. My friend had additional smoked meat on her poutine. It was a very heavy meal, worth walking around afterwards. What flavor is the cheese curds? Close to a mozarella taste. I give an A on the visit. Yes, I came back a second time with another group of friends. The bowl of poutine is enough for 2-3 people.

3. Canadian style London Fog
Canadians will pride on their version of tea with milk AND whip cream AND brown sugar.

4. Tim Horton's
This Dunkin Donut Canadian version has already opened its chain worldwide. However, people say the coffee chains in Canada is still different. Mainly known for its coffee, some donuts and sandwiches. For me, I need to taste more to determine the difference.
